What we stand for
Not That Kind Of CIC believes in the absolute power of community; giving opportunities and support to people in need, no matter their background, is one of the guiding principles by which we operate.
It is our goal to promote an equitable, fair, and welcoming environment for all young people in Lincolnshire – we strive to build a place for young people to find themselves; to be free from persecution and judgement; to be a shelter from abuse and trauma, and to feel safe, independent, strong, and secure in their identities.
It is our belief that bringing together people from diverse backgrounds helps to promote healthier, more inclusive mental health practices where everyone benefits from each other’s experiences and perspectives, and we do everything we can to help empower young people and help them understand their agency.
However, we recognise that while we might hope to build the foundations for a better tomorrow, exploitative systemic injustices continue to threaten millions of people today. This needs to change.
We cannot work towards a more equitable, fair society without recognising and combatting the inequalities and oppressions that disproportionately affect millions of vulnerable people within the communities that we work with. We consider it our mandatory civic duty to combat hate, injustice, and harmful misinformation wherever we see it.
We also recognise that tolerant societies cannot function without recognising the Paradox of Tolerance. Hate Speech is not free speech; it is a form of violence. Not That Kind Of CIC will not, and will never, allow hate groups to spread within our community or undermine the governing principles of equality that we choose to live by.
We do not owe a platform to bigots, and it is our policy that anybody engaging in hate speech or affiliating with hate groups will be immediately and permanently removed from our events. We will proudly enforce these rules without hesitation.
We are incredibly proud to offer support and assistance to people within our local reach, but also to help further the goal of equality across a sweeping congress of social issues; we are proudly LGBTQIA+ friendly, firmly support the Black Lives Matter Movement, advocate for Disability Agency, are feminist and gender affirming, and are openly supportive of Neurodiverse needs. We are firm advocates for improving mental health for everyone, and believe that everybody deserves dignity in life.
Finally, we are eternally proud to offer sanctuary to people who feel alone or adrift in the world – it has always been our goal to build a space for the rebels, the dreamers, and the outcasts of society to find kinship and community, and discover the inherent value in who they are. We hope you will join us in this mission.
Sincerely,
Dale Tyler and Team NTKO
